Accessibility

We want anyone to be able to look at a kit, read a spec and place an order here, whatever they are using to do it. This page says what we have done about that and how to tell us when we have got it wrong.

What we build to

We aim for the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at level AA. In practice that means the site is built to be used by keyboard alone, every image carries a text description, colour is never the only way something is signalled, text resizes without breaking the layout, and the whole site is checked against an automated accessibility test suite as part of how it is built — not as an afterthought before launch.

What we know is imperfect

Automated testing catches a lot and misses things a person would notice straight away. The photo galleries and the video player are the parts most likely to give trouble, and we have not had the site tested by someone who uses a screen reader every day. We would rather say that than claim more than we can stand behind.
